Gonzo La trayectoria de Manes es similar a la de Ulver: abandonaron la escena del black metal con algunos de los mejores trabajos que han salido de Noruega a sus espaldas para volcarse en la exploración de la música experimental y otros géneros. En este álbum continúan explorando esta senda, sin decepcionar un ápice. Disco recomendadísimo para aquellos que busquen algo distinto. De mis LP favoritos de la banda. Favorite track: Blanket Of Ashes.

Ken Goodey This album didn't grab me immediately, but it's definitely growing on me. This style of music is not something that I've grown up with, so I must admit that my initial thoughts were that it lacked the depth and some of the darkness, that I not only liked about Manes' earlier output, but that I like in my music in general. However, there is a pleasantly mysterious quality to the music and vocal delivery and I am finding that I am enjoying listening to it more and more. Favorite track: Blanket Of Ashes.

xhrl_ Experimental avant-garde metal and rock that is hard to describe. There is a wild assortment of styles and instrumentation on this LP. But it must be stressed that this is very intriguing music. We find electronic sounds, delicate rock, intimate hip/trip/hop, some ambient soundscapes all intermingled in this Danish band's songwriting. If Igorr rocks you, this has a good chance to rock you, too!

Flowers of Evil est vraiment un album spécial dans lequel Ulver joue le rôle de l'illusionniste jusqu'à en être carrément fallacieux : retour de la synthpop (ça serait bien la première fois qu'Ulver reste dans une zone de confort), pochette étrange, références bibliques et culturelles à foison... Mais si on creuse un peu plus, c'est un Ulver tragique qui se dévoile, un Ulver qui parle de bombes atomiques ("Little Boy") et de massacres injustes ("Apocalypse 1993") : un Ulver plus froid et mature.
